The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, checked the implementation of the state defense order for the production of self-propelled artillery systems 2S19 Msta-S, 2S3 Akatsiya, 2S4 Tyulpan, 2S5 Giatsint, as well as 2S35 Coalition-SV at the Ural Transport Engineering Plant . This was reported by the press service of the defense department.

During his visit to the plant, Shoigu criticized the chief designer of the enterprise for delaying the production of one of the promising artillery systems.

“Listen, stop fooling around here, guys. We got busy with this in 2022. We should have these machines operating at full capacity in 2023, but with you everything is so calm, so to speak, good,” said Sergei Shoigu, addressing the plant’s management.

As Shoigu emphasized while summing up the work at the enterprise, the plan to increase the production of self-propelled artillery was entrusted to the President of Russia.

“We are talking about self-propelled artillery, and here, of course, if today we have reached a good pace in repairs and new Msta guns, then we need to strengthen it with other systems,” Shoigu said, adding that he expects it within a week a report explaining how the indicators outlined by the president will be achieved.

The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that these tasks must be completed, since we are talking about the work of Russian military personnel on the battlefield. He noted that new self-propelled guns are in great demand and it is necessary to speed up testing and the start of mass production.

Based on the results of work at the enterprise, the minister said that serious, fundamental changes had taken place.

“A lot of new equipment has appeared. Naturally, in connection with this, production volumes have increased significantly,” he said.

In addition, Shoigu drew attention to the work on the production of new self-propelled guns, which have reached the final stage. According to him, the Russian Armed Forces will receive the first six vehicles in February. In this regard, he drew attention to the situation with ammunition for these weapons.

“This is superimposed on the issue of ammunition. We have some ammunition there. Therefore, timely delivery is necessary,” said the head of the military department. He added that groups from factories and ammunition production enterprises are conducting tests both at training grounds and in the special military operation zone.

Earlier, during a working trip to the troops of the Central Military District, Shoigu inspected the work of two more defense enterprises. At the Almaz-Antey concern, Sergei Shoigu inspected the production of sea-based cruise missiles "Caliber" and cruise missiles of the Iskander operational-tactical complex.

At the Machine-Building Plant named after M.I. Kalinin, the head of the military department checked the organization of production in the final assembly shop of launchers and launch-loading installations for the S-300V and Buk military air defense complexes and systems, the first batch of which is being assembled within the framework of the 2024 State Defense Order.

Summing up the results of these meetings, Shoigu noted that relative to the air defense missiles required by the Russian Defense Ministry, production has more than doubled. He expressed hope that the program will be fully implemented this year.
