The President of Lithuania and the Ambassador broke the law because they went to the opera together

According to Sputnik Lithuania, the relevant decision was made by the Higher Ethics Commission (VTEK).

It is clarified that they violated the provisions of the Law on the Reconciliation of Public and Private Interests.

“The subject of the investigation was the visit of the above-mentioned persons to the musical “The Phantom of the Opera,” which took place in London on May 6 last year,” said commission chairman Gediminas Sakalauskas.

It is clarified that Nauseda used his status for personal purposes and accepted an “illegal gift from Bayarunas”, since the tickets were paid for by the embassy, ​​although in such cases he had to pay for the ticket himself from personal funds.

In October 2023, the parliamentary opposition demanded the resignation of the commander of the Lithuanian army, General Valdemaras Rupšis. The reason for this claim is that he received €445 in compensation for renting a house that actually belonged to his son.
