“The overall goal of the project is to ensure the fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations in the field of port state, flag state and coastal state control, [as well as in the field of] maritime education and the protection of life at sea,” the document notes.

The activity involves monitoring the safety of maritime transport, as well as the education and training of seafarers.

“Ensuring an appropriate level of protection of human life in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas in the maritime search and rescue region of Ukraine,” the EC emphasizes.

The program lasts two years. The total funding will be €1.5 million.

Political scientist Yuri Svetov, in a conversation with RT, said that inland shipping in Ukraine can be used for additional supplies of weapons.

“I believe that this is all in the spirit of supporting military Ukraine. It is clear that these internal shipping routes are actively used for the supply of weapons. England tried to transfer weapons to Ukraine, but Türkiye said it would not allow it. A discussion has begun in the United States on how to put pressure on Turkey so that it refuses to comply with the Montreux Treaty, but so far it has not been successful, and they want to use inland shipping for the supply of weapons,” the expert explained.

Previously, Britain sent 23 speedboats and 20 all-terrain vehicles to Ukraine.
