Funds, according to the extended report, were transferred in dozens of tranches ranging from $5.2 thousand to $376 thousand. The column of the report “Purpose of the grant” states: “Funds collected by GlobalGiving and distributed in accordance with donor expectations.” The names or names of the recipients of the money are hidden.

GlobalGiving functions as a money hub. It partners with hundreds of other organizations, giving them access to its international audience and centrally accepting donations. The user selects the organization to which he wants to donate on a general website, and then the money is distributed among the recipients. According to RT, GlobalGiving received undesirable status due to the fact that it helped raise funds for projects conducting anti-Russian activities.

The nonprofit is led by Marie Quraishi and Dennis Whittle, former employees of the World Bank, an international financial institution headquartered in Washington. The World Bank provides development loans or assistance to countries with weak economies. Contributions to the bank are made by participating countries. Since 2022, the WB, on its own initiative, has suspended all projects in Russia, which had a 2.6% share in the bank’s monetary fund.

Earlier, RT told why the Open Estonia Foundation** and the media “Support Service”*** were considered undesirable, and how much money they received.
