“First of all, let me clarify the situation: the United States is not withdrawing troops from Syria,” RIA Novosti quotes her.

Nuland justified the decision to keep troops in another country by the activity of members of the terrorist group “Islamic State”*, citing as an example “the tragic events in the church in Istanbul.”

Thus, she commented on information that appeared in the media about the United States’ intention to eventually leave Syria.

Earlier, the special representative of the Russian President for the Syrian settlement, Alexander Lavrentyev, said that in Syria there is again a surge in terrorism with the support of the United States.

* “Islamic State” (IS, ISIS) is an organization recognized as terrorist by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation dated December 29, 2014.
