During the conversation, the parties highly appreciated the current Russian-Chinese relations, which are developing in line with the agreements between the leaders of Russia and China.
“The parties discussed the current state of affairs in Ukraine. A confidential exchange of views was held on issues of ensuring security in the Eurasian space and in the Asia-Pacific region,” the statement said.
In addition, Lavrov and Ma Zhaoxu called for an immediate resolution of the situation in the Middle East, as well as a reduction in tension on the Korean Peninsula.
Earlier, Sergei Lavrov said that relations between Russia and China are now experiencing the best period in history.
