Lavrov: the head of the Swiss Foreign Ministry did not explain the meaning of the Copenhagen format without Russia

The meeting between Cassis and Lavrov took place in New York on January 23.

According to Lavrov, the Swiss minister expressed Switzerland's desire to help find a compromise in the situation around Ukraine.

Cassis also told Lavrov that the Copenhagen format on Ukraine was held in Davos.

At the same time, Lavrov subsequently stated at a press conference that it was necessary to look for a solution with the participation of Russia.

“I asked him (the head of the Swiss Foreign Ministry - RT) if you understand this, then why are you holding all these events? There is no answer, but the fact that this is a propaganda move, to which the West attaches great importance, is a fact,” TASS quotes him.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow was surprised by the comments of the Swiss Foreign Ministry after a meeting with Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN Security Council about allegedly seeking ways for negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict.
