Occupied Jerusalem -

The Israeli occupation uses the punishment of home confinement on a large scale in Jerusalem, as it affected 308 Palestinian citizens in the city during 2023, including children, according to data from the Jerusalem Governorate, which is an official Palestinian body.

The young man, Muhammad Qutb (21 years old), reviews his experience, after he went from being a victim of a trampling accident by an Israeli settler to being accused and pursued by the occupation police.

The trampling accident occurred on May 10, 2021, near the Lions' Gate in Jerusalem, in which Qutb was seriously injured and injured, including several fractures in his leg that almost led to its amputation.

About a year after the incident, Qutb was surprised to be arrested and informed that the settler was demanding compensation for the incident in an amount exceeding one million shekels (about 270 thousand dollars) and was bringing many charges against him, including that the young man was the settler’s attacker.

The young man's detention continued for more than a month, during which he was subjected to harsh interrogation before he was released under harsh conditions, most notably open house detention with a tracking device attached to his foot, which he has been in for more than a year now, while his trial sessions continued and restrictions were imposed on his parents.

Qutb says that house arrest has caused him to lose his job, and has deprived him of even treatment or walking in the streets of Jerusalem and visiting and accompanying his friends. However, he affirms his love for his city, Jerusalem, in which he lives, but he only sees it from the balcony of his house.
