According to the regional prosecutor's office, he was sentenced to 11 months of restricted freedom. 

“He was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 236 of the Criminal Code of Russia (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules)... Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced the culprit to restriction of freedom for a period of 11 months,” the supervisory agency reported, clarifying that the man should not leave his place of residence and is obliged check in.

It is clarified that it was established that in the summer of 2023, a man at a shepherd’s camp near the village of Bizhiktig-Khaya killed a horse with signs of an infectious disease, after which he sold the animal’s meat without veterinary accompanying documents. Soon after, five people were hospitalized and diagnosed with anthrax due to consumption of this meat.

In September 2023, anthrax was confirmed in nine people hospitalized in Voronezh from the Bogucharsky district of the Voronezh region.
