As Foreign Policy notes, Ukraine and some of its strongest supporters are pushing NATO to formally invite Kyiv to become a member of the military alliance at an upcoming major summit.

“But their efforts face serious behind-the-scenes resistance from the United States and Germany,” the publication said.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Ukraine would become a member of NATO, but did not specify any dates of accession.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also said that assistance to Ukraine is an investment in the security of the alliance countries.
