Steven Gunnell, member of the boy band “Alliage”, was propelled into the world of show business at a very young age. An intense and immediate success which plunged him, some time later, into a severe depression. He agreed to tell his story to Olivier Delacroix in this episode of the podcast “Dans les yeux d'Olivier” produced by Europe 1 Studio. In 1996, Steven was 20 years old. He lived in Nice doing odd jobs until the day he decided to leave his family to try his luck in the cinema, in Paris. After only three weeks, the young man landed a casting about which he knew nothing. He has actually just been selected to join a “boys band” called “Alliage”, with three other young men. For Steven, it's the start of a new life. The group had immediate success and their songs were played repeatedly on all FM radio stations. Very quickly, the album went gold and Steven went on to do galas, concerts and signing sessions. Money is flowing freely and the young man is no longer able to manage his expenses. After three years of success, one of the members of the group decided to leave Alliage to begin a solo career. This departure then spells the end of the boy band's success and overnight, Steven no longer has a job, no more friends and no more money. In debt, the young man decides to go into exile in London in order to bounce back but the producers' doors remain closed there too. Steven then plunges into depression and one evening when he is considering ending his life, he calls his mother who will help him get back on track. Under his advice, he goes to a chapel and very quickly, Steven finds his faith and thus the courage to continue his life... Today, Steven has found his professional path, he has found love and he has the joy of being a father of two children.
