Agents of the National Police have arrested the parents of two children, aged one and a half and four years respectively, who were wandering

alone on the street, barefoot, in a situation of lack of protection and who tested positive for cocaine

in the subsequent health examination to which they were subjected.

The events occurred last Sunday afternoon when a couple walking down a street in the center of Soria encountered two minors,

a boy and a girl, young and in a situation of lack of protection

, explains the Government Delegation through a statement sent to Europa Press.

Children walked the streets

barefoot, and in poor hygienic

and sanitary conditions. The couple, after waiting a moment in case the parents appeared, took the children to the National Police station.

At police stations the minors received initial care. Medical assistance was later requested so that a medical examination could be carried out on the children. An ambulance traveled to the police station and

took the minors to the pediatric service

of the Santa Bárbara hospital.

The police officers continued with their efforts to obtain the

identification and location of the minors

, as finally happened.

At the Santa Bárbara hospital the children, aged four and one and a half, received health care. Thus, various medical tests were carried out, the result of which was

positive for cocaine for both minors

.

For all these reasons, National Police agents proceeded to arrest the parents of the minors as alleged perpetrators of a crime of abandonment of minors.

The police actions were

reflected in the relevant police report

. At the end of it, the parents were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court, on guard duty, of this capital.

The court has

decreed the release of the parents

and the guardianship of the two brothers to the Junta de Castilla y León.
