The military spokesman for the Yemeni Ansar Allah group, the Houthis, announced on Monday that the group targeted a US Navy logistical support ship, while it was sailing through the Gulf of Aden, with a naval missile yesterday evening.

A statement by the group’s spokesman said, “In victory for the oppression of the Palestinian people, and as part of the response to the American-British aggression against our country, with the help of God Almighty, the naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces yesterday evening, Sunday, launched a suitable sea missile that targeted a ship belonging to the American Navy (Lewis B. Puller) while it was sailing.” In the Gulf of Aden.

The statement explained that "among the tasks of this ship is to provide logistical support to the American forces participating in waging the aggression against our country," noting that the targeting operation "comes within the military measures taken by the Yemeni armed forces in defense of dear Yemen and in confirmation of the decision to support the oppressed Palestinian people."

The statement also stressed that "the Yemeni armed forces will continue to implement the decision to prevent Israeli navigation or navigation heading to the occupied ports of Palestine in the Red and Arab Seas until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted."

During the past weeks, the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) launched attacks on ships in the Red Sea that it said were linked to Israel, and American ships that support Tel Aviv in its ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, the United States and Britain launched several rounds of raids against Houthi sites in Yemen, which they said were targeting the missile capabilities of this group to protect global shipping traffic in the region.

Washington also announced the re-listing of the Houthi group as a “global terrorist organization” against the backdrop of the recent attacks launched by the group on ships in the Red Sea.
