It is Ayanna Home Ab that runs the hostel in Ursviken outside Skellefteå. The homeless must be picked up at collection points in the evenings and then shuttled to the sleeping place.

But last week no transport ever came – the homeless were left and had to try to find a place to sleep on their own at night.

- They have not picked up the people who need help, even though it is stated in the agreement, says Karambotis.

Difficult to help - wish to remain anonymous

Skellefteå municipality has now broken the agreement with the company.

- This is not good, we have trusted that the agreement will be kept. It has come to our attention that the company has changed its name, which owner it is now we do not know, but it is against the agreement. We have been in contact with the company and informed about the breach of contract, says Iosif Karambotis.

This means that there is currently no activity at the shelter. The municipality has procured a new supplier from the first of May, but hopes to start operations before then.

- We are now trying to find individual solutions for the people who need help.

Karambotis estimates that there are five people affected by the shelter being closed down.

Have you managed to help those affected or are there people who have to sleep outside even now?

- We hope so, but it is hard to say. Those who apply there want to be anonymous and keep a low profile, now that we lost them we have to have an outreach. We want to reach out with information so that everyone knows.

Has activated social preparedness

Skellefteå municipality has activated social preparedness due to the incident. Homeless people can currently be offered a place to sleep at the Bostad first project where there are some apartments, or at the Torpet accommodation.

SVT Nyheter Västerbotten has searched for the owner of Ayanna Home Ab without success.
