The British newspaper "The Guardian" said that dozens of US government employees will go on a hunger strike on Thursday to denounce President Joe Biden's policy of supporting Israel, and to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The group, which calls itself "Federals United for Peace," consists of dozens of government employees.

Representatives of the group told the Guardian, “On Thursday, its members will organize a one-day hunger strike, in response to Israel’s use of famine as a weapon of war by intentionally preventing food from entering the Gaza Strip.”

Federal employees participating in the strike are expected to report to their offices dressed in black, or wearing the keffiyeh or other symbols of Palestinian solidarity.

A strike organized by the same group - earlier this month - sparked strong reactions in Washington, where national security officials from both parties (Republican and Democratic) criticized their protests and described them as "insurrection."

The planned strike reflects the growing anger among American officials, due to the Biden administration’s refusal to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, while the Israeli aggression led to the martyrdom of more than 26,000 people, the injury of more than 65,000 others, and the displacement of about 1.9 million Palestinians.

Internal differences in the administration's policy came to public attention when the United States began to increase sending weapons and ammunition to Israel for use in the war on Gaza.
