The first instance of the bribery case of Chen Xuyuan, former chairman of the Chinese Football Association, accused of taking more than 81.03 million yuan in bribes, begins

　　On January 29, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Huangshi City, Hubei Province held a first-instance public hearing on the bribery case of Chen Xuyuan, former deputy secretary and chairman of the Party Committee of the Chinese Football Association.

　　The Huangshi Municipal People's Procuratorate alleged that from 2010 to 2023, the defendant Chen Xuyuan took advantage of his position as president and chairman of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd., leader of the preparatory group for the reelection of the Chinese Football Association, and chairman of the Chinese Football Association. As well as the convenient conditions for the formation of authority and status, it provided assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as project contracting, investment and operation, event arrangements, etc., and illegally accepted property from others equivalent to more than RMB 81.03 million. The procuratorate requested that Chen Xuyuan be held criminally responsible for accepting bribes.

　　During the trial, the procuratorate presented relevant evidence, and the defendant Chen Xuyuan and his defender conducted cross-examination. The prosecution and defense fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court. Chen Xuyuan made a final statement and expressed his guilt and repentance in court.

　　At the end of the trial, the court adjourned and announced the verdict at a later date.

　　More than 30 people including NPC deputies, CPPCC members, journalists and people from all walks of life attended the trial.

　　It is understood that the bribery and bribery case of Chen Yongliang, the former deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Football Association and former director of the National Team Management Department, and the bribery and bribery case of Liu Lei, the former deputy director of Wuhan National Fitness Center, were investigated by the Xian'an District People's Court of Xianning City, Hubei Province and the Xian'an District People's Court of Xianning City, Hubei Province on that day. The People's Court of Jiayu County, Hubei Province held public hearings in accordance with the law.
