The couplets written by famous artists on both sides of the Taiwan Strait show different styles. Some are vigorous, free and easy, vigorous and straight, and some are dignified, beautiful, clear and refreshing. 2024 is the Chinese Year of the Dragon, and artists are particularly fond of Spring Festival couplets with the word "dragon" in them. More than half of the exhibited works bear the word "dragon". Mainland calligraphers Wu Xue and Qin Jingen coincidentally wrote "The Year of the Dragon presents national auspiciousness, and the spring shines with splendor"; Yang Xutang, chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Society of Taiwan, even wrote on the spot "Peace across the Taiwan Strait opens up good fortune, and the dragon soars in the clouds to show its ambitions" ", expressing expectations for the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.

Tracing back to the origin of the Spring Festival couplets, Wang Zhengdian, chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Cultural and Creative Development Promotion Association, said that the Spring Festival couplets, commonly known as "door pairs", are one of the symbols of the Chinese Spring Festival and express people's good wishes for good luck in the new year. The Spring Festival couplets recorded in the literature can be traced back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Emperor Meng Chang of the Later Shu Dynasty wrote "New Year's Day to welcome Yuqing, Jiajie Festival is Changchun" and placed them on both sides of the door, becoming the earliest recorded Spring Couplets. In the Song Dynasty, Spring Festival couplets became popular because of their characteristics of praying for blessings during the New Year; Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, even issued an edict requiring every household to post couplets in front of their doors during the Spring Festival, and people officially named them Spring Festival couplets. It's the New Year when people start posting Spring Festival couplets.

Wang Zhengdian said, "We organize the Spring Festival Couplets Exhibition of Cross-Strait Artists to showcase the unique cultural charm of Spring Festival Couplets, so that the audience can touch traditional culture in such a poetic way and deeply feel the rich connotation of traditional culture."

The Spring Festival Couplets Exhibition is hosted by seven art groups including the Chinese Cultural and Creative Development Promotion Association, the Chinese Calligraphy Society, and the Danlu Calligraphy Society, and is co-organized by Jiangshan Soduojiao Art Museum, Taipei Journalists Guild, etc. The exhibition will last until February 29 day.
