Events Police strike against illegal car racing
The clandestine car and motorcycle races have returned this past weekend to the Metropolitan stadium parking lot. These large spaces were transformed during the early hours of last Sunday into
a track for illegal races and reckless maneuvers
, as can be seen in the footage recorded by several of the attendees.
In this case, the Municipal Police went to the scene alerted by the neighbors and were able to break up the concentration and identify several cars that were spinning and skidding. There were no arrests, but agents
are investigating the videos of those present to try to identify the vehicles involved
in the races and other risky maneuvers.
Neighbors report that there is gambling among the participants and that there are also young people who sometimes risk their lives standing on top of cars.
In the videos spread on several accounts you can see two cars accelerating in parallel and up to three motorcycles running on an immense straight in the outdoor parking lot of the Atlético de Madrid field. Also other
cars "burning wheels and spinning."
The Municipal Police is already investigating these risk situations. The possible crimes that these drivers face are included in article 380 of the Penal Code: driving a motor vehicle with manifest recklessness, specifically endangering the life or physical integrity of people. These actions can lead to
two years in prison and withdrawal of driving license from one to six years.
In the event that there is manifest contempt for the lives of others, two to five years in prison and withdrawal of the driving license for six to 10 years.
Last summer the Police already broke up several of these concentrations in the same Metropolitano parking lot and in the La Atalayuela industrial estate in Vallecas.
