Passenger trains depart here at least once an hour and freight traffic thunders past. Although the crossing is equipped with barriers, warning lights and sounds, people run over the tracks.

- You kind of don't see the danger in crawling under, says train driver Robert Montgomery on Tåg i Bergslagen operator VR Sweden.

Since the summer of 2017, there have been 46 incidents according to the Swedish Transport Administration's statistics, which, however, only include reported incidents and risky deviations. The actual number may be higher.

And in 2019, "bar crawls" at Fagersta central station set a record: 15 times - in other words, more often than once a month - and in one case it was a couple with a pram who got under the barriers.

Sala is yet another Västmanland municipality that is noticed in SVT's national review, but in the statistics there are no pedestrians there, only cars on the tracks and barriers that have been broken.
