The Latvian MEP
Tatjana Zdanoka
, an ally of the Catalan independence movement during the
process
, would have worked for more than a decade as an agent of the
Russian intelligence services
. This is revealed by an investigation published today by
The Insider
magazine , in collaboration with the
Delfi Estonia
portal , the investigative journalism center Re:Baltica and the Swedish newspaper
Expressen
.
According to several leaked emails, at least between the years 2004 and 2017, Zdanoka reported information to two officers of
Russia's Federal Security Service
(
FSB
), the successor organization to the Committee for State Security (KGB) of the Soviet Union.
Integrated into the Greens/European Free Alliance
parliamentary group
(a political space to which she belonged since 2004),
Zdanoka
became a non-registered MEP in April 2022 after refusing to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine as her training in the European Chamber required.
