Thirty years of criminal imprisonment, with a security period of 20 years, were requested Monday against Valentin Marcone, tried for having shot dead his boss and a colleague in May 2021 at the Plantiers sawmill, in the heart of the Cevennes.

In his indictment before the Gard assizes, the attorney general, Bertrand Baboulène, considered that premeditation was not established and that these were therefore not assassinations but only murders committed concomitantly. He also considered that Valentin Marcone's discernment was "impaired" at the time of the events.
