Iran executed at dawn today, Monday, 4 defendants who were convicted of cooperating with Israeli intelligence services and planning to sabotage an Iranian defense site in the city of Isfahan, central Iran. According to what was reported by Iranian official media.

In July 2022, the Iranian Ministry of Security announced the arrest of an “operational cell” recruited by the Israeli Mossad, which infiltrated Iran through the Kurdistan region of Iraq with the aim of blowing up a factory for the production of military and missile equipment belonging to the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan, and that the operation was thwarted by cadres. Ministry.

According to the Iranian Fars News Agency, the file of the 4-person cell members was referred, after investigations were completed, to the Islamic Revolutionary Court, where they were convicted of “espionage for the Zionist entity” on September 22, and the death sentence was issued against them.

The convicts appealed the ruling issued before the country's Supreme Court, which discussed the case file again. The court rejected the submitted appeal and thus upheld the preliminary ruling issued, according to which the death sentence was executed against them this morning.

The agency explained that the terrorist cell includes “Mohammed Faramzi,” the leader of the cell, “Mohsen Mazloum,” the official in charge of support and support operations, “Wafa Azerbar,” who was in charge of booby-trapping the targeted hall, and “Pegman Fatehi,” who was entrusted with the responsibility of dealing with obstacles and clashing with individuals if they were exposed. The operation, and other individuals who participated in operational and intelligence support were arrested within the framework of this file.

The agency stated that after the Iranian Public Prosecution completed investigations and collected evidence and documents, “the case file was referred to the Islamic Revolutionary Court, where they were charged with several counts of intelligence cooperation on behalf of the Zionist entity, and forming and managing a terrorist group with the aim of disrupting the country’s security.”

The agency said, “Based on Article 6 of the Countermeasures Law against the Zionist Entity’s Hostility against Peace and Security, which stipulates that any intelligence or espionage cooperation in favor of the Zionist Entity is considered a crime of hostility and corruption on earth, and therefore they were convicted of death.” This ruling was rejected by the Iranian Supreme Court.

In August 2023, Iran announced the thwarting of a “very complex” plan hatched by the Mossad with the aim of “sabotaging” its ballistic missile program. Before that, Tehran accused Israel in February of bearing responsibility for a drone attack on a military site in Isfahan.
