The International Organization for Migration said that the number of people displaced due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan has reached 10 million and 700 thousand people since mid-April.

The international organization described this number as "stunning" and called for intensive international efforts to urgently strengthen the humanitarian response to what it described as the largest displacement situation in the world.

The Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, said that there is one Sudanese out of every 8 internally displaced people in the world, and that the displaced people there suffer from an acute shortage of food, shelter, health care and sanitation, and their deteriorating conditions increase the risk of disease and malnutrition.

The UN official criticized the humanitarian response to the situation in Sudan and considered it insufficient so far to meet the urgent needs, stressing that "we cannot turn our backs on the millions of people who need support."

Since last April 15, the war has continued in various areas of Sudan between the army forces led by the President of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who was Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council before the conflict broke out between the two sides, which left thousands dead, as well as About millions of displaced and affected people.
