Nicknamed the “Forcené des Cévennes”, Valentin Marcone was sentenced this Monday to 30 years of criminal imprisonment, accompanied by 15 years of security.

Valentin Marcone was sentenced Monday by the Gard Assize Court to 30 years in prison, with a 15-year safety period, for the murder of his boss and one of his colleagues in 2021 in a sawmill in the Cevennes. As requested by the prosecution, which had on the other hand requested a 20-year security sentence, the jurors ruled out premeditation in their verdict. They also considered that the accused, aged 32, was suffering from a disorder which impaired his discernment at the time of the facts.
