“It was established that on the morning of January 27, 2024, in a forest area near the village of Yasenevy, Pozharsky district, hunting inspectors discovered parts of an Amur tiger. Based on the results of the inspection of the crime scene, the head, tail, paws and skin of a tiger, separated presumably by a knife, were discovered and seized,” the regional prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 258.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (illegal hunting, transportation of especially valuable wild animals belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and protected by international treaties of the Russian Federation, their parts).

At the end of December, a criminal case was opened in Primorye for attempting to sell the skin of an Amur tiger.
