This winter, the Northeast is bustling with ice and snow tourism, and the "icy and snowy" wind has also blown across the Taiwan Strait. Many young Taiwanese people braved the cold and walked in the snow. All fresh experiences related to snow are “the first time in life” for many young people.

From January 23 to 27, more than 90 young students who participated in the Jilin Branch of the 30th Taiwan Compatriots Youth Winter Camp of the National Taiwan Federation came to the ice surface of Chagan Lake to watch the special winter fishing, stroll along the Songhua River and enjoy the rime wonders. Visit Jilin's "Snow Town" to see the new look of the countryside, appreciate the charm of ice and snow up close, and experience the folk customs of Northeast China.

“The white mountains and plains, the endless ice, and the hospitality and enthusiasm of the local people are all things I will never forget.” Looking back on this trip, Wu Yuting, a student at National Chengchi University, said in an interview with China News Service on the 28th that he was fortunate to encounter the Northeast this winter and left behind “ Hot Snow” Memories.

An unforgettable ice and snow tour

On the ice of Chagan Lake at the end of January, the distinctive winter fishing continues. The ancient fishing methods of digging nets under the ice, horse-drawn winches, and fishing in ice lakes have been included in the national intangible cultural heritage list. Watching the "Lake Sacrifice and Awakening of the Internet" ceremony, Wu Youting kept taking photos and recording it, saying it was "very cool".

Walking along the path along the Songhua River, Zhang Shuhan from National Chengchi University took a breath of hot air under the pine trees hanging with rime. She described the rime as blossoming velvet flowers. The mist along the river was "as beautiful as a fairyland."

Many Taiwanese youths on this trip are "Shou Lai" like Zhang Shuhan. One of them is Tsai Yizhen from Yilan University in Taiwan. At a ski resort in Changchun, she was about to start her third skiing trip and shared tips on "preventing falls": Squat lower and grasp your center of gravity to prevent slipping. Even if you fall, your classmates will lend a helping hand. "It's an exciting and heart-warming experience."

Tsai Yizhen said that the natural features of her hometown of Pingtung are completely different from those of Northeast China, but the hospitality of the people is very similar, and they welcome friends from the mainland to travel across the sea.

  A down-to-earth country trip

Erhe Village in Shulan City is known as Jilin's "Snow Village" by the outside world. It has attracted many tourists since the establishment of an ice and snow tourism project in 2016. Taiwanese youth can "immerse" themselves in northern folk customs and feel the steamy countryside.

Seeing the buildings in the village covered with thick snow, Zeng Junzhi from Taipei University said, "It feels like entering a fairy tale world." This "post-00s" girl who loves watching Chinese dramas and reading "Little Red Book" participated in the All-China Taiwan Federation's Youth Summer Camp for Taiwan Compatriots in July last year. She is still excited to return to Taiwan. This time she came with her friends. From "first-time visitors" to "repeat customers".

In the square of "Snow Town", Du Yujie, a Taipei student from Peking University, was greeted by the villagers and joined the Yangko team. She waved her flower fan and took the cross step, which "warmed her body and mind."

Here, Du Yujie also learned how to make dumplings, and the strong New Year flavor made her feel homesick; when she visited farmer Miao Yan's home, laughter and laughter could be heard from time to time on the warm fire bed, and the lively scene made her feel like she was home. Sister Miao, who loves to talk and dares to speak, recently became a travel anchor. She looks forward to promoting the beauty of "Snow Country" to the outside world.

"This is not my first time to the Northeast, but it is the closest one." Du Yujie described her trip to the countryside as "returning to nature".

"Taipei has Changchun Road, and Changchun has Taipei Avenue."

"What are you looking at? This dish is delicious!" During his first visit to Northeast China, Zhang Wei, a student at Taiwan's Chinese Culture University, learned many dialects because he became good friends with Xu Jiaxing, a student from mainland China. When talking about the e-commerce bloggers from Northeast China on the video platform, Zhang Wei "picked them up easily", and even Xu Jiaxing was surprised by his familiarity.

Another good friend of Xu Jiaxing is Luo Zhenghao, a boy from a Taiwanese ethnic minority. Although we got along briefly, our friendship was so good that "he became more and more like a Northeastern person, and I became more and more like a Taiwanese."

"Taipei has Changchun Road, and Changchun has Taipei Avenue. Even though they are separated by mountains and seas, and there is a temperature difference of more than 40 degrees Celsius, the two sides are still inseparable." Liu Xingren, honorary chairman of the Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Cultural Federation, observed that the exchanges between young students during the trip were frank and warm. , simple and simple.

He hopes that the friendships formed by young people will last forever and encourage more young people in Taiwan to experience the mainland for themselves. (over)
