Chinanews.com, Beijing, January 1 -- On January 5, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a reception in Beijing to commemorate the 1th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Wang Yi elaborated on three enlightenments brought about by the 5-year development of China-US relations.

First, peace is the most fundamental cornerstone of China-US relations. As the largest developing country and the largest developed country in the world, China and the United States account for a quarter of the world's population and more than one-third of the world's total economic output. At the same time, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and the United States bear a heavy responsibility for world peace and security.

Second, cooperation is the most correct choice for China and the United States to get along. Over the past few decades, the world has seen the power of China-US cooperation, whether it is fighting terrorism, responding to the international financial crisis, fighting Ebola, or politically resolving hotspot issues. Under the current situation, the common interests between the two countries are not less, but more, and the necessity for cooperation between the two countries has become stronger rather than weakened. It can be said that Sino-US cooperation is no longer an optional question for the two countries and even for the world, but a question that must be seriously resolved.

Third, win-win results are the most essential feature of China-US exchanges. The nearly $7600 billion in bilateral trade and more than $2600 billion in two-way investment between China and the United States profoundly reflect the high degree of complementarity between the two countries in terms of economic structure, deep connection in the global production and supply chain, and common interests in common development. This is the inevitable result of the international industrial division of labor in the context of globalization, the rational choice of the economic circles of the two countries, and the natural orientation of the complementary interests of the two sides. The mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the United States is like a surging river flowing into the sea, artificially engaging in decoupling and blocking, but only moving against the tide, the gains will outweigh the losses, and it will eat up itself.
