Despite the ongoing Israeli aggression, Hamas' popularity is growing in Gaza and the West Bank (Anatolia).

A poll among Palestinians showed a rise in support for the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which is under constant Israeli aggression, while overwhelmingly rejecting Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas with nearly 90% saying he should resign.

According to the results of the poll, conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Ramallah, "support for Hamas in the West Bank has increased 3-fold from what it was before the war."

According to the poll, which was conducted a few days ago and announced on Wednesday, nearly 70 percent of Palestinians called for the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority, and 90 percent of Palestinians believed that President Abbas should resign.

The poll also showed a high level of support for armed action to confront the occupation, with more than 60% of Palestinians surveyed believing that "resistance is the best way to end the occupation."

Regarding the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation, which was carried out by the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, on October 7, the vast majority of respondents in the West Bank and Gaza expressed that the decision to attack was correct, and 72% of those surveyed said they supported the Al-Aqsa flood.

Sixty-four percent of respondents opposed the PA's participation in meetings with the United States and other Arab countries to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip after the war, and 64% said they preferred the continuation of Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip after the war.

The poll's findings indicate widespread frustration with the international community, especially the United States, key European countries, and even the United Nations, which has pushed for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The findings also point to further difficulties facing the Biden administration's vision of Gaza after the war, and raise questions about "Israel's stated goal of ending Hamas's military and governance capabilities."

Washington has called on the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, currently led by Abbas, to eventually assume control of Gaza and administer both areas as a prelude to statehood. U.S. officials said the Palestinian Authority must be reactivated, without revealing whether that meant changes in leadership.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who leads the most right-wing government in Israel's history, strongly rejects any role for the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, insisting that Israel must maintain open security control there.

Arab allies have told the United States they will only participate in post-war reconstruction if there is a credible push toward a two-state solution, which is unlikely under Netanyahu's government dominated by opponents of a Palestinian state.
