Constantine of Liechtenstein, the youngest son of the sovereign prince, dies at 51

For the time being, the Royal House has not provided further details. Born in Vaduz Castle, he graduated in law from Paris Lodron University in Salzburg in 1997. After working in investment funds, he served as chairman of the board and managing director of the Liechtenstein Foundation and for the past three years he has been working for the Liechtenstein Group, a private entity through which the vast wealth of the princely family is managed. In fact, Hans Adam II is the richest sovereign in Europe with a fortune of $7.200 billion, according to the latest Forbes list.

Constantine married Countess Maria Gabriele Franziska Kálnoky of Kröspatak in 1999 in a double ceremony. The first was civil in Vaduz – the capital of Liechtenstein – and then by the church in Slovakia. The couple has had three children, Prince Moritz Emanuel Maria (20) born in New York, Princess Georgina Maximiliana (18) born in Vienna and Prince Benedikt Ferdinand (15), also born in the Austrian capital.

Those who have dealt with him say that he was an affable, polite person, a godfather and was always attentive to helping people. Although he was not a media prince, he won the affection of his people and some of the members of the ruling families of the old continent.

There was a time when, if the rumours had been true, he would have become the brother-in-law of Felipe VI (55), since his sister Tatiana was one of his girlfriends in 1995. Her relationship did not come to fruition and four years later she married the baron, with whom she has seven children. Interestingly, his paternal aunt Nora of Liechtenstein (73) married in 1988 Vicente Sartorius, 58th Marquis of Mariño and father of Isabel Sartorius (1993), who in <> was another strong candidate to ascend the Spanish throne.
