Shifa Complex, the oldest and largest hospital in Gaza (social media)
The Israeli occupation army in Gaza arrested the director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, and a number of medical staff, according to what the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation announced, and doctors in the hospital currently under the control of the occupation army reported after a siege and shelling followed by a raid and then completely evacuated it 5 days ago.
Khaled Abu Samra, a doctor at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, told AFP that the occupation arrested Abu Salmiya and staff from the medical complex at dawn on Thursday.
Abu Salmiya had been informed a few days ago that he had received an order from the occupation to evacuate the hospital on November 18 after he rejected a similar previous order, as hundreds of patients and displaced people were evacuated from Shifa Hospital to another hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, in addition to transferring dozens of premature babies. Dozens are still stuck in the hospital.
A doctor at Al-Shifa complex told Al-Jazeera that the occupation forces entered the emergency department yesterday and carried out searches inside it.
The doctor pointed out that 3 doctors and 4 nurses providing care for the 180 patients are still stuck in the hospital.
