French President Emmanuel Macron called on the Palestinian Authority to condemn the Al-Aqsa flood operation, while drawing Israel's attention to the heavy casualties in Gaza, expressing Paris' readiness to contribute to the treatment of children injured in the occupation aggression on the Strip.

In a telephone interview on Sunday, Macron urged Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to condemn what he called the terrorist attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7.

Macron said it was "essential that the Palestinian Authority and all countries in the region unequivocally and with the greatest firmness" condemn Palestinian resistance operations against Israel.

Prisoner Negotiations

Macron spoke on Saturday with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi about ongoing negotiations to release prisoners held by Hamas in Gaza.

Hamas says all of those it is holding are Israelis and does not take into account the fact that some of them are dual nationals.

Macron stressed on Sunday that he was doing "everything possible to release all the hostages, especially our eight French citizens."

In a related context, Macron told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "the number of civilian casualties is very high" in the Gaza Strip.

The French presidency said Macron reminded Netanyahu of "the absolute necessity of distinguishing between terrorists and the population."

Truce and aid

On the humanitarian side, the French president declared that "wounded or sick children from Gaza who need emergency care" can "receive treatment in France" if it is "useful and necessary." "Measures have been taken to receive up to 50 patients in our hospitals," he said.

The French ship Dixmod is expected to arrive in Egypt in the coming days and will be dedicated to treating the most serious cases in Gaza.

Macron said a new air force plane would transport "more than 10 tonnes of medical cargo at the beginning of the week" with "two mobile health stations each that can treat about 500 severely injured people."

"Humanitarian aid must arrive as soon as possible and with maximum security. For that to happen, we must reach an immediate humanitarian truce leading to a ceasefire."

From occupation to flood

It is noteworthy that Israel was established on Arab land occupied in 1948, annexed Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1967, and continued throughout its 75 years to kill and arrest Palestinians, expand settlement activity in the West Bank, launch military operations on Gaza and attack Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

On the seventh of last October, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and other Palestinian resistance factions launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against the Israeli occupation, killing about 1300,<> Israelis so far.

The Palestinian resistance also captured more than 200 Israelis and announced that it wanted to exchange them for more than 6,<> Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

For its part, Israel continues its aggression against Gaza, bombing homes, schools, hospitals and mosques, resulting in the death of more than 13,30 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in addition to injuring about <>,<>, destroying entire neighborhoods and displacing and starving most of the population.
