"The NIS analyses the reflection of information on web portals... A decree was signed today, according to which 31 web portals will be blocked, among them 21 are managed from Russia... Our state protects its information space," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Musteață added that he will also propose to suspend the licenses of six TV channels, which, in his opinion, "pose a risk to the security" of the state.

The head of the SIS also accused Russia of interfering in local elections and conducting a "disinformation campaign through TV and social networks."

Earlier, Moldova reported blocking access to the websites of more than 20 Russian media outlets.

Moscow said it considered the blocking of Russian-language portals in Moldova to be a hostile move.

On October 3, the Russian authorities closed entry to the country for a number of persons from Moldova who are directly related to the restriction of freedom of speech and the rights of Russian journalists in the republic, as well as the incitement of anti-Russian sentiments.

Prior to that, during a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the ANO "Russia – Land of Opportunities", Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Western countries are afraid of the truth, including from foreign journalists working for RT.
