The Israeli occupation forces destroyed the memorial of the late Al Jazeera correspondent in the occupied Palestinian territories, the martyr Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed by Israeli soldiers in May 2022.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Guevara Al-Budairi reported that the occupation forces bulldozed "Shirin Abu Akleh Street" and its memorial during their incursion at dawn on Friday in the city of Jenin and its camp in the northern occupied West Bank.

She pointed out that no other street was bulldozed during the raid, and said that the vandalism was deliberate, especially since it was not the scene of confrontations and clashes.

She pointed out that the memorial was destroyed for the second time in 4 months after it was inaugurated on May 11, 2023, coinciding with the first anniversary of her martyrdom, which was erected at the place of her death.

Two days ago, Al Jazeera Media Network welcomed the findings of the report of the United Nations International Independent Investigation Commission on the martyrdom of Abu Akleh, and called for swift action to ensure justice and hold her killers accountable.

The UN body acknowledged that Israeli forces had used "unjustifiably lethal force" in targeting Shirin Abu Akleh. She highlighted the urgent need to hold Abu Akleh's killers and those involved in targeting her accountable.
