The agency, citing the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Authority, said the occupancy rate is currently 20.6 percent, and since April, stocks have been declining from 48.5 percent.

It is noted that at the end of July, half of the largest reservoirs were almost shallow and were filled by less than 5%. However, now seven out of 10 have already become shallow, and now Istanbul is supplied with three filled by a maximum of 44%.

Forecasters predict no precipitation in the city for 10 days. Heavy rains have occurred in some areas this month, but they have not been able to significantly affect the situation with water supplies.

In August, the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, called on the city's residents to conserve water due to the threat of drought.
