The Israel Defense Forces have led the foreign press on Tuesday to Kibbutz Kfar Aza, one of the areas most affected by the terrorist attack by Hamas militants in Israeli territory, launched from the Gaza Strip last Saturday.

The bodies of Israeli residents and gunmen lay on the floor of the kibbutz, among burnt houses, scattered furniture and burning cars, as Israeli soldiers went from house to house to take away the bodies.

"You see the babies, the mothers, the fathers, in their bedrooms, in rooms where they tried to take shelter and how the terrorists killed them. It's not a war, it's not a battlefield. It's a massacre, it's a terrorist activity," Israeli General Itai Veruv describes.

It is precisely the image of the babies, some of them beheaded, the most shocking reference in the chronicles of the reporters who have come to Kfar Aza.

"Hamas barbarians massacred 40 babies during the October 7 attacks. Israel will honor each of the victims of these heinous Islamist terror attacks. We will stop at nothing to make these terrorists pay a heavy price," the Israeli Embassy tweeted on the social network X (Twitter until last month).

Danny Danon, Israel's former ambassador to the UN, said that the terrorists included not only Hamas militants: "Not only Hamas members, more Gazans infiltrated Israel and committed all kinds of atrocities."

A military spokesman said the death toll from Hamas attacks had risen to 900 people, mostly civilians shot dead in their homes, on the streets or at a music festival, eclipsing the scale of any past attack by Islamists since Sept. 11 in the United States. Dozens of Israelis were taken to Gaza as hostages, and some were displayed on the streets as trophies.

Since then, at least 770 Gazans have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to Gaza officials, while entire districts of Gaza have been razed to the ground.

The figures of those killed in Kibbutz Kfar Aza suggest that at least a third of its population was massacred by terrorists.
