The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami told Al Jazeera that Tehran's retreat from reducing its commitment to the nuclear deal requires the lifting of all sanctions on his country, stressing that targeting Iran's nuclear facilities militarily is useless and will be met with a decisive and destructive response.

In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera to be broadcast later, Eslami stressed that the commitment of the parties and America to the nuclear agreement will be met with an Iranian commitment, pointing out that the Iranian nuclear program cannot be deleted by targeting it militarily or sanctions.

In the same context, he explained that the installation of more surveillance cameras depends on the commitment of the rest of the parties to the nuclear agreement.

In his statements on Al Jazeera, the same Iranian official said that their dialogue with the International Atomic Energy Agency continues, as the file of highly enriched uranium atoms was recently closed, and considered that the current year 2023 witnesses the end of political noise over Iran's nuclear program.

He also said that Israel knows that its threat to strike Iran's nuclear facilities is empty and beyond its capabilities, expressing his country's readiness to cooperate constructively with its Arab neighbors in the nuclear field.

Plans and continuation

Three weeks ago, the Iranian Fars News Agency quoted an informed source as saying that Iran's peaceful nuclear program continues in all sectors without stopping or changing, after the Wall Street Journal said that Tehran had slowed the pace of accumulation of enriched uranium.

The source told Fars that Iran's nuclear activities continue without interruption in all fields, based on the previous plans of the Atomic Energy Organization, and in accordance with the Strategic Initiative Law.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter, said in previous weeks that Iran had significantly slowed the pace of accumulating closely-enriched uranium for weapons, in a move that could help ease tensions with the United States and resume broader talks on its nuclear program.

It is noteworthy that the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran approved in 2020 the Strategic Initiative Law to repeal the embargo and protect the rights of the Iranian people, while the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran confirms that it carries out its activities on the basis of the Strategic Initiative Law and within the framework of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
