The protest actions of the Last Generation repeatedly call the police into action. In Baden-Wuerttemberg, however, the law enforcement officers are apparently hoping that the activists will also provide insights into the functioning of the organization – and invited some to the University of Police in Villingen-Schwenningen.

Now the Ministry of the Interior in Baden-Württemberg has defended the procedure. The principle of freedom of research and teaching also applies to the university in the Black Forest, the ministry said at the request of the dpa news agency. The ministry is led by department head Thomas Strobl (CDU). Previously, the "Bild" newspaper had reported on the appearance of three climate activists.

The representatives of the climate group Letzte Generation appeared on May 16 at a so-called Studium Generale of the university. The term is usually used to refer to university courses that contribute to general knowledge.

It was about the climate protests of the last generation, as can be seen from a previously unpublished written response from the ministry in mid-August to a request from the AfD parliamentary group.

The answer is available to the dpa news agency. The »Bild« newspaper reported that the invitation to the event had stated that the activists would present their motives, their goals and the actions of the movement, among other things.

On March 21, members of the group had already been connected by video at an event of the training center in the Schwarzwald-Baar district on the topic of "current operational situations," the ministry wrote.
