Climate glue, chaotic troops, terrorists: The activists of the "Last Generation" have been given many names in recent months. They glue themselves to highways and roundabouts, dousing works of art with oil. In Germany and Austria. Although the group claims to have less than 1000,<> active members in both countries, its actions receive a lot of media attention.

In Austria, it is above all one climate activist who is currently in the public eye: Anja Windl, 26 years old, who actually comes from Germany but lives in Graz. She is called "Climate Shakira" by Austria's tabloids – because of her long blonde hair, which resembles the curly mane of Colombian pop singer Shakira.

We met Anja Windl for this podcast and accompanied her on a "Last Generation" campaign. We talk about the question of whether Windl and her comrades-in-arms are the only ones who take the climate crisis seriously enough. Or whether their actions will ultimately do more harm than good to climate protection.

This episode of »Inside Austria« was created in cooperation with »Klimabericht«, SPIEGEL's climate podcast.

In the weekly podcast »Inside Austria«, SPIEGEL and STANDARD take a joint look at the big and small scandals in Austria. Together with journalists from both editorial offices, we reconstruct cases and events that move the country. We look into political abysses, follow the investigations surrounding the Sebastian Kurz and his ÖVP case and inform you about an important Austrian topic of the week.
