Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal met with President Raisi during his visit to Iran, which normalized diplomatic relations for the first time in seven years, and expressed his willingness to reopen the embassy, which continues to be closed.

In March, Saudi Arabia agreed to normalize diplomatic relations with Iran for the first time in seven years, mediated by China.

In response, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal visited Iran on the 17th and held talks with President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdrahian, respectively. According to the Government of Saudi Arabia, Foreign Minister Faisal conveyed King Salman's greetings to President Raisi and exchanged views on regional affairs and other matters.

This month, Iran resumed operations at its embassy in Saudi Arabia and normalized diplomatic relations.

"The Saudi embassy in Tehran will soon follow," Faisal said at a press conference, expressing his desire to reopen the embassy, which was damaged by protesters in 2016 and continues to be closed.

Saudi Arabia, which has been attacked by Iranian-backed rebels in neighboring Yemen using missiles and drones, appears to be aiming to stabilize the situation in the region by repairing relations with Iran amid no end in sight for an end to Yemen's civil war.
