The government in Söderköping consists of the Moderates, the Social Democrats and the Christian Democrats. The strategic direction for the municipality 2024 to 2026 consists of five long-term goals, as well as a framework budget. But it is also clear that the municipality, like many others, is facing a financial challenge.

"The financial challenges for the municipality are now becoming increasingly apparent. High inflation, increased pension costs and rising interest costs contribute to our fears of a record low result for our businesses in 2023. When and how much inflation is dampened is crucial for economic development," says Martin Sjölander (M) in a press release.

The government also announces that the new stretch of the E22 is a priority during the planning period, as well as skills supply within the municipality.
