It was on Wednesday last week that a little boy died after falling five floors straight into an elevator shaft during a rescue operation. How the accident happened is currently being investigated. Questions have been asked about what knowledge the emergency services have regarding lifts.

Anders Ekberg is head of rescue services at Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg. He states that no extended training is planned at this time.

"Today, with several hundred different types of lifts, it would be impossible for us.

It is estimated that the emergency services in Greater Gothenburg receive around 50 alarms about lift accidents every year, but in only a few cases these are crushing accidents.
