Plants such as giant balsamine, giant onion or lupine are counted among so-called invasive species. They have been planted in Sweden once upon a time, spread rapidly and threaten biodiversity. Public knowledge of what the plants look like and how they spread has increased, but according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, young adults have poorer control.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and several municipalities now want to inform about the situations where people risk spreading invasive species. It involves leisure activities such as gardening, fishing and boating.

"Young people carry out risk activities in their spare time, which is why we want to raise awareness of what is an invasive species and what to do with it," says conservationist Marlene Olsson.
