The majority of the country's regions are grappling with the major challenge of getting staff this summer. In Norrbotten, there has been a demand for everything from nurses to biomedical analysts and dental staff. Through the campaign "The world's best summer jobs", the region has now managed to secure 80 substitutes for the summer.
"It's a record. We have never succeeded in attracting as many people as we do now," says Jonas Sandberg, who is the project manager for the summer campaign.
Staff can get holidays
The substitutes come mainly from Stockholm, Örebro and Mälardalen. And the successful recruitment means that many more of the regular staff can get vacation this summer.
"We aimed to get about 100 substitutes from outside and have almost reached that goal. It's absolutely amazing.
Some move up
Has it mostly been healthcare professionals who want to come and work temporarily in Norrbotten or are they thinking of moving here for good?
"Most people come here anywhere from two weeks to three months this summer, but there are also those who have said that, now they are moving up, and we have some who have moved up already," says Jonas Sandberg.
