At the Hong Kong Creative Center of the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Cultural Fair"), Hong Kong designer Huang Jing reappeared.

This is his seventh participation in the Fair, and from 6 June, he will be a curator introducing Hong Kong design to visiting merchants for five days from 7 June.

"More than 40 sets of home furnishing exhibits by more than 10 Hong Kong designers have become physical objects from design drawings." Huang Jing told reporters that after participating in many cultural fairs, he obviously felt the vigorous development of the mainland's cultural and creative industries, which also made the space for Hong Kong designers' creative landing more space.

At the Hong Kong Creative Hub, the "East-West Efficient Workstation" attracted the attention of reporters, a group of desks composed of three desks and three baffles in the shape of a windmill. When individuals prefer to work alone, pull up the front panel of the desk to increase the privacy of the work area; When group discussions are required, there is no need for a separate meeting room, and the front panel is pulled down to become an open communication area.

Huang Jing told reporters that Hong Kong designers have integrated Eastern and Western office culture into their designs, and backed by the mature industrial chain of mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, the process of transforming design drawings into physical objects is like a tiger. Huang Jing also used a walnut chair on display at the Hong Kong Creative Centre as an example to explain the strength of the mainland's industrial chain.

This walnut chair created by a number of Hong Kong designers has a smooth surface and no card slots. According to him, during the splicing of wooden panels, magnets have already been evenly inserted, and cushions equipped with magnets can be adsorbed on the back of the chair. The entire wooden chair not only looks simple and generous, but also conforms to ergonomics.

Huang Jing said that in the production process, designers and manufacturers need to communicate many times, and the imagination must not only fall on the drawings, but also in reality, and constantly optimize the best version by playing the board. The most important thing is that there must be a "sound" after the product lands.

Grew up in Hong Kong and has been working in the mainland for more than 20 years. Huang Jing said: "The cultural and creative market in the mainland is very mature, and what has been seen is not just a product, but also a business model from design, production and sales, to the operation of new media Douyin and Xiaohongshu, and this model is already leading the world." ”

As an industrial designer, he currently does brand packaging and planning for many well-known enterprises in the mainland. Huang Jing said that today, many companies in the mainland have changed from the model of operating large teams in the past to cooperating with small companies of different specialties. Because small companies are more likely to specialize in a certain segment, this model can also match the flexible and free working model of young designers and entrepreneurs.

It was this change that allowed Huang Jing to see the potential of Hong Kong designers. He believes that Hong Kong designers have the innate advantage of integrating Eastern and Western cultures, and starting a business in the mainland can start from a small team to serve large enterprises and reduce the cost of starting a business. At the same time, he stressed that young people from Hong Kong and Macao should go to the hinterland, make friends and gain an in-depth understanding of the motherland's long history and culture.
