The rescue services in the area have at least ten units on site and since the fire is geographically located in Leksand municipality, the work is controlled by the Rescue Region Bergslagen.
– It has been difficult to get to the fire due to inaccessible terrain, but we have managed to locate the fire area with the help of drones.
Waiting for extinguishing helicopter
The fire area is six times larger than the Kupolen shopping centre in Borlänge.
"Now we are waiting for assistance from the air, we hope that a helicopter will arrive. But this work has taken a long time, we have been working since 01 o'clock last night, says Nicole Wikström, who speaks for the Rescue Region Bergslagen.
Dry in forests and fields
At 12 noon on Thursday, fire bans will be introduced in five Dala municipalities; Leksand, Vansbro, Mora, Älvdalen and Orsa.
