Pensions: no vote in the National Assembly on the repeal of the law

This was the last and tiny hope of opponents of the pension reform in the National Assembly: to repeal the text thanks to a bill tabled by the independent group Liot. But the president of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, whistled the end of the match.

Inadmissible Yaël Braun-Pivet was pithy this morning, concerning the amendments that sought to restore the possibility of voting on the repeal of the pension reform. "Whatever happens, there will be no vote on the subject tomorrow," she said. This announcement is anything but a surprise: it had been several days since the President of the Assembly had announced her intentions.

Virulent reactions

But the reactions are no less virulent: "Extremely serious", "a coup de force", "anti-democratic" rebels in the ranks of the Napes. "We have blocked the far right, Macron is blocking democracy," said Socialist Party spokeswoman Chloé Ridel.

The reply - in any case - is being prepared in particular by the Insoumises, whose group president, Mathilde Panot, has announced her intention to table a motion of censure. There could even be several since the Liot deputies, outraged by the scuttling of their text by the presidential alliance, also plan to engage the responsibility of the government.

In the street?

Possible answer also in the street: "We need a popular response on a scale," says LFI MP Antoine Léaument, who calls for a rally at the Invalides tonight near the Assembly.
