Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during which they discussed bilateral relations and the stability of the global energy market. The phone call follows a meeting earlier on Wednesday between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and bin Salman in Jeddah.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that Putin and the crown prince discussed - during the phone call - bilateral relations and ways to develop cooperation in various fields.

For his part, the Kremlin said that the president and the Saudi crown prince discussed the issue of ensuring stability in the global energy market, where the two sides highly valued the level of cooperation within the framework of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to maintain a balance between supply and demand for oil.

According to the Kremlin, Putin and bin Salman stressed the importance of the oil agreements reached at the ministerial meeting in Riyadh, and discussed increasing trade relations and implementing projects in the fields of investment, logistics and energy.

The phone call comes after a previous meeting between the Saudi crown prince and the US secretary of state in Jeddah, during which they discussed aspects of cooperation in various fields as well as reviewing regional and international developments, according to SPA.

The bin Salman-Blinken meeting came ahead of the latter's departure from the Saudi capital after his participation yesterday in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
