As a biological being, man has not changed since 1523. But Malin Grundberg, museum director and historian at the Royal Armoury, still believes that we have very little in common because we do not share the same picture of the world.

"Back then, it was believed that the whole social order was governed by God. One therefore had no desire to advance, but had to be in order and do it well. Today, you have to constantly improve, change position," she says.

General human things live on

She is supported by Bo Eriksson, associate professor of history. If we met a 1500s person today, we would find it difficult to share a worldview, he says.

"But the universal human is still there; that children play in the snow or that we like to dress in fashionable clothes," he says.

Fashion designers look back

But if you look at the closet, time seems to stand still.

"I'm absolutely convinced that designers today look at historical images to find inspiration," says Saga Loxdal, a freelance fashion writer, pointing to Dolce Gabbana and Valentino, among others.
