"This will not greatly affect the situation in the Kherson region. Even a major evacuation of people is not required. Most of the residents remain in their places, although transport has been sent for them," he said.

On the morning of June 6, the head of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev, reported damage to the upper part of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

As a result of numerous strikes on the station at about 02:00, the valves were destroyed, as a result of which water from the Kakhovka reservoir rose and began to be discharged uncontrollably downstream.

About 300 houses downstream, in Dnipro and Korsunka, can fall into the flood zone.

At the same time, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that up to 80 settlements are at risk of flooding after the emergency.
