Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2022 - 202307h15, 06 June 2023
[An unpublished testimony at the microphone of Jacques Vendroux for Europe 1] Following the death of his father in 2017, Yannick Noah returned to Africa and became a village chief. It is therefore forty-eight years after leaving Cameroon that the former tennis player returns to Etoudi, the village of his childhood. Overnight, the one who was until then called "Uncle Yann" becomes "Majesty" to take over the work of his father and grandfather before him in the development of the village as well as in the help provided to its inhabitants. In episode 9 of the podcast "Yannick Noah, between you and me", Yannick Noah takes us to the family mausoleum to tell us about his link to the land of his ancestors and the role of patriarch he holds there.
For the 40th anniversary of Yannick Noah's victory at Roland-Garros, Europe 1, official radio of the tournament, went to Cameroon to meet the legend of French tennis. He agreed to confide as never before about his childhood dreams, his memories of champion and his new life in Africa during an exceptional interview at the microphone of Jacques Vendroux.
